Directions: 
The Barn is located near the town of Shenandoah, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley.  Here is a mapquest link with the location Click here: Map of [300-385] S Fork River Rd Shenandoah, VA by MapQuest  This star is very close to where our house is.  Our address is actually 400 South Fork River Lane, Shenandoah, VA 22849.

Additionally, below are directions if you are coming from Washington, DC or Richmond, VA:

Directions from Washington, DC.

 

From the beltway take Interstate 66 west about 40 miles toward Front Royal.   At exit 13, Linden, turn left at the bottom of the ramp and then go right on route 55 west to Front Royal where you will take 340 south toward Luray.  If you miss the exit off I-66 at Linden you can continue on I-66 and take 340 south at Front Royal.

 

At Front Royal take 340 south about 25 miles to Luray.  Before you get into Luray, turn right onto 211 west/340 south toward New Market.  You will pass Luray Caverns and go over the Shenandoah River.  A couple of miles past the river, (before you start going up the mountain) turn left on 340 south toward Shenandoah, (there will be a sign.)

 

On 340 south you will pass Kite's Store and a few miles later, Page County High School on your right (approx. 3 miles to go from here).  You will go over the South Fork of the Shenandoah River again and you will pass Grove Hill church on your right and Grove Hill elementary school on your left.

 

A short distance later, about 1/2 to 3/4 mile from Grove Hill School, you will see a "Plants a Plenty" sign on your right, this is Kites Corner Road (also county road 732).  Turn right (west) on 732 and go to the end of the pavement.

 

At the end of the pavement, turn right on South Fork River Lane and follow the road around to the left and into the trees; bear left at the first big fork in the woods (North Fork River Lane goes straight, South Fork River Lane goes left).

 

Continue on toward the river bearing right past the driveway (361) that goes straight.  You will see the big cedar barn.  Park in the driveway or go past the barn and park in the small field on your right.

For the scenic route you can take I-66 to U.S. 29 south at the Gainesville exit.  Take 29 south to Warrenton and pick up 211 west toward Luray and New Market. At Luray continue on 211 west toward New Market.  You will pass Luray Caverns and go over the Shenandoah River - South Fork. Follow the remaining directions from above. 

 

 


Directions from Richmond, VA.

 

From Richmond take I-64 west toward Charlottesville. About 55 – 60 miles outside of Richmond take 15 North to Gordonsville.  At Gordonsville take U.S. 33 west and follow 33 past the Blue Ridge Mountain/Shenandoah National Park entrance and proceed down the mountain to Elkton. 

 

At Elkton, go North (right) on U.S. 340 through Elkton and the town of Shenandoah.  About three miles past the stoplight in Shenandoah you will see a white fence and a red (fake) brick barn and silo on your left.  This is Kite’s Corner Road also county road 732.  There is also a sign “Plants a Plenty” at this junction.  If you get to Grove Hill Elementary School, you’ve gone too far.

 

Turn left, (west) on 732 and go to the end of the pavement.  At the end of the pavement, at the mailboxes, turn right on South Fork River Lane and follow the road around to the left and into the trees; bear left at the first big fork in the woods (North Fork River Lane goes straight, South Fork River lane goes left).
